Established in the year 1985, in India, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has become a solution to the problem of millions of students regarding higher studies and successfully claims to be the largest open university of the world. IGNOU provides a student-friendly platform to all its students irrespective of the course and offers admission in two sessions, one is in the month of January and the other in the month of July.
Of all the Regional centers of IGNOU in different states, IGNOU Regional Center Kolkata established in the year 1998, is one of the best Regional center for distance education. It is located on the fourth floor of Bikash Bhavan, Salt Lake City, Kolkata. It is well connected by public transport to both the main railway stations ( 20 kilometers from Howrah railway station and 15 kilometers from Sealdah railway station) as well as the Dumdum Airport (25 kilometers from the airport). It is visited by over 200 students per day in normal time and many more during admissions.
