Since the university is handled by the central government the chancellor of the university is the president of our country “Mr.Ram Nath Kovind” and “Ravindra Kumar” serves as the vice chancellor of the university. To improve the level of education and improvise people’s understanding of things in our country it is very necessary that every individual is educated.

IGNOU Scholarship for Differently-abled Students

Students who are studying in Indira Gandhi National Open University and have disabilities can now opt for scholarship options provided by IGNOU. If you want to pursue a degree of professional course at a post-graduate level from IGNOU then you can apply for a scholarship. Under this scheme, a student with visual or hearing disability is also provided one time facility of aids and appliances. This scholarship scheme is being implemented from the current academic year and includes total fee reimbursement, books, stationery allowance and maintenance allowance. This scholarship scheme is also applicable to distance education universities like IGNOU.

Scholarships are provided under two screens called trust fund and national fund.

If you are wondering why you cannot find information about IGNOU scholarship forms on the IGNOU official website that its because the IGNOU scholarship and loan options are provided under the NHFDC, are commonly known as national handicapped finance and development corporation.

Trust Fund

The number of scholarships under the trust fund scheme for scholarships for students with disabilities is 1000. the awarded amount is rupees 50,000 under the scheme for the students with a disability who want to pursue a degree or a professional level course from any recognised University.

Reservation for girls is 30% only. You can apply for the scholarship only if the income of your parents or guardians from all the sources is equal to or less than 3 lacs per annum. If the yearly income of your parents or garden is more than this you will not be eligible for the scholarship.

National Fund

Under the national fund scheme for scholarships for students with disabilities provides a total of 200 scholarship of rupees 12000 for the students who want to pursue higher education or professional courses.

50% of the scholarships are reserved for girl students. also you can apply for this scholarship only if your parents’ income is less than or equal to 1.8 in lacs per annum.

Note: 30% reserved for girls transferable to male candidates in case of non availability of girl
applicants
Course of study: Degree and Post Graduate level professional and technical courses from recognized
institutions in India.
Eligibility:
– should be an Indian
– Monthly income of the beneficiary/ parent should be Rs. 25, 000 (Rs. 3 Lakh p.a) or less from all
sources
Amount for maintenance:
Professional Graduate Courses: Rs. 2500 p.m (for 10 months)
Professional PG Courses: Rs. 3000 p.m
Amount for Books & stationery:
Professional Graduate Courses: Rs. 6,000 p.a
Professional PG Courses: Rs. 10,000 p.a
Visual and hearing differently-abled students will be financed for purchase of aids and appliances (once
during lifetime).

Full procedure to apply online

  2. Read the procedure and click on apply.
  3. Upload your Documents.
  4. Take the printout of the online application form and send it
    along with requisite documents countersigned and duly recommended by the Head of Institution to

Rate of Scholarship and other benefits under the scheme:
4.1 The following benefits will be available under the scheme:-
   
(i) Non-refundable fees shall be fully awarded in case of Government/Government-aided institution. In case of private Institutes the reimbursement would be restricted to similar courses in Government/Government-aided institutions.
(ii) Maintenance allowance will be paid to the students for a period of 10 months only in one academic year at following rates.

Loan facilities for Different-abled students of IGNOU

You can’t apply for Loan online. But you can apply for common Application Form (For Loan for Education / Training to Disabled Persons). Students covered under Persons with Disabilities (Equal Opportunity, Protection of Rights and Full Participation) Act, 1995 can apply for their education loan with a minimal interest of 4% per annum.
