History of IGNOU Trivandrum regional center –
The establishment of the IGNOU at Thiruvananthapuram was in January 2009. The authorization of the IGNOU regional center wherein Pathanamthitta, Tirunelveli, and Tuticorin district of Tamil Nadu, Trivandrum in Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram district of Kanyakumari and Kerala. At present, the IGNOU Trivandrum regional center provisions the education facilities of its authorization through 53 learner support centers network which consists of 32 program studies centers, 10 special study centers, and 11 study centers.

India Gandhi National Open University IGNOU is a national resource center for distance and opens learning with recognition as one of the international and presence IGNOU Trivandrum regional center provides the student harmonious access to Imperishable and a magnificent learning environment of quality education training facilities to the students with innovative technologies which are skilled and upgraded. They also provide the mass methodical and enhance convergence of the systems that are existing for a huge number of human resources for advanced global understanding and development of integrated national.
Present day’s enhancement-
- Number of enrolment has increased by 48% from the session of 2009 January 2011 January.
- The revenue generation of fees collection has increased by 55%. There is also an increase of learner study center is by 25%.
- HLL life care limited has collaborated for the development of ADCM and PGDCEM programs
- SITD has collaborated with developed diploma in laptop hardware, Wi-Fi networking and diploma in computer teacher training courses.
- A short term spoken Hindi training program was conducted with the collaboration of Kerala Hindi Prachar Sabha at Trivandrum. Another short term skill development training program was conducted with the collaboration of Malankara Social Service Society.
- Many induction meeting ,convocations, orientation program and coordinators meeting as well as exhibition and press meeting conducted successfully in different locations
- IGNOU Trivandrum regional center was allotted with 25 acres and others of 8 acres of independent land by the government order of state government.
