The people’s university that is IGNOU operates through its Regional Center (RC). Nearly 2000 learners support centers that come under the state’s regional centers all over the country. Regional Centers are establishments which are maintained by the university for the sole purpose of coordinating and also supervise the workings of the study centers in a particular region. The regional centers are established with the support of the state government to maintain the open distance learning process. The regional centers are also held responsible for the delivery of the programs and also take care of the student support services across the state. The main functions of a regional center are categorized into academic, administrative, and promotional. Regional centers are sub-office of the IGNOU for all practical and theoretical purposes and are also used to play the role of resource centers in the IGNOU.

So, the Ignou Mumbai Regional Center was established in January in the year 2009 and also looks after the Pune region. The main role of the regional center is to provide a good student support service to the increasing number of learners enrollment from the regions which are particularly in the remote areas and also focuses on the minority blocks of Mumbai. Currently, the Mumbai regional center offers 126 academic programs which range from Master’s, Bachelor’s, Post Graduation Diploma, normal Diploma, Post Graduation Certificates, Certificate, and also some awareness level programs. IGNOU offers admissions on the basis of two cycles: January and June, which is relevant for all the courses offered.

The Mumbai Regional Center of IGNOU covers Greater Mumbai and also marks the Konkan region of the state which includes the Districts of Greater Mumbai, Mumbai Suburban, Thane, Palgarh, Raigad, and Ratnagiri. Mumbai as we all know is the largest city in this region with a population of 21 million approx. and the Mumbai regional center covers almost 60% of the total population of Maharashtra.

On that field, you have to choose Mumbai Regional Center and you will get your registration done on that specified regional center that you have chosen. After the admission process gets over you will be provided a Study Center which will be a college and will be a situation in Mumbai or the nearby areas. 15 Study Centers are available in Mumbai and are working on a full phase to support the students across the region.
