IGNOU Bachelor of Arts (General) also known as BAG is of three years at Indira Gandhi National Open University. This wide and flexible undergraduate degree course is of three years with in-depth training in one particular subject. This Degree gives you exceptional knowledge to apply for an appreciative job in the future and provides you a wide variety of careers to choose from. This Degree provides all the students with a career option in Insurance, social services, travel and tourism, sports coordinating, administration, etc. BAG degree is highly preferred now as it provides fundamental knowledge of the humanities and science and various issues that influence our society. This course’s main focus is to develop skills in students like analytical abilities, verbal communication skills, and research sophistication.

The IGNOU Bachelor of Arts (General) BAG programme can be completed by earning the required number of credits under each category in a minimum period of three years (six semesters) or in the maximum period of six years.
Required number of credits under each category:
The IGNOU BAG Course structure follows the Choice Based Credit System launched by the University of Higher Authorities in 2019. The BAG is a 132 credit degree comprise of two different listings of courses.
This course varies in different semesters out of six semesters. 22 credits are added for completing each semester. The BAG degree is offered in two languages English, and Hindi student has to select which language will suitable for him while applying for admission in the Degree.

The BAG programme has twelve core courses, four in languages and four each in the two disciplines you have opted to study. Each core course is of six credits. 72 credits (12 courses * 6 credits).

2. Discipline Courses
The BA programme gives you an option to study any two disciplines of your choice.
Discipline Specific Elective Courses are only on offer in the fifth and sixth semesters of the programme. They carry 24 credits (2+2 courses * 6 credits).
IGNOU’s BAG Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses are of four credits each. As the name suggests, the Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses (AECCs) are compulsory for all learners. There are two AECCs on offer, one each in the first and second semesters.

Skill Enhancement courses are offered from 3rd Semester of IGNOU BAG. Each Skill Enhancement Course (SEC) is of four credits. You will have to opt for only one SEC each semester. Following table is showing common pool of Skill Enhancement courses, In which you have to choose one for each semester.

General Elective courses are on offer in fifth and sixth semester of your BAG course study. They are designed to provide exposer other courses. So, they are often called as inter disciplinary courses. You can choose any course from the common pool.
IGNOU BAG consists 6 semesters in 3 years.
Each Skill Enhancement Course (SEC) is of four credits. and you have to opt 1 SEC course per semester from 3rd semester.
