The term-end exams for IGNOU students are conducted at the end of each semester. The exams are held in the last week of December and the first week of January. Students have to appear for the exam at their respective study centers. The exams are of three hours duration and are held in two shifts- morning and afternoon.
The term-end exams are important as they account for 30% of the total marks in a course. IGNOU students can attempt a maximum of six subjects in one exam cycle. However, they can carry forward up to two subjects to the next exam cycle.
Those who have submitted their assignments in time are allowed to appear for the term-end exams. The assignments carry 20% of the total marks.
The term-end exams are conducted in a semester system. There are two semesters in an academic year- the first semester from January to June and the second semester from July to December.
Students have to submit their exam forms and fees at least one month before the commencement of the exams. The late submission of exam forms is not accepted under any circumstances.
IGNOU students can check their exam results online on the university’s official website. The results are declared within a month after the exams are over.
The University will attempt to accommodate students at the examination center they select. (If the sitting at the center is complete, students can take their examinations at a nearby or alternate exam center under the jurisdiction of the same Regional Centre.) On the other hand, the university has no obligation to move students from one exam center to another due to Covid-19 Protocols or any other cause.
